Realistic Morning Routine as a Single Mom of 8 Kids. DITL – VLOG

Jordan Page Morning Routine

Mornings?

They’re crazy.

As a single mom of eight kids? They’re even. crazier. I just posted a vlog on Instagram – watch part one and part two – sharing my realistic morning routine, chaos and all. You can watch the videos, or keep reading for a peek into my typical morning.

Part Two:

Early Riser

I’m out of bed at 6:45 am. I like to put on my workout clothes – this tank and these shorts are a current fave – so I’ll be dressed for my workout later in the morning – one less thing to do later, plus it makes me super motivated to go to the gym! I put on a set of eye patches, brush my teeth, and head downstairs to start breakfast.

I start scrambling eggs in my go-to pan, take out the bacon I prepped the night before, and toss in some laundry while I wait for the eggs, which is a great nudge from week one of our 90-Day New Page Challenge – tidy somethingwhile on hold or waiting.

My “bigs” are the first up. This particular morning, I made breakfast burritos, and then they were out the door for activities and school.

School Drop Off

Waking up the “middles” and “littles” takes a few minutes, but who can blame them when they’re cozy in their blankets? Their sleepy morning hugs are the best though! I ignore the piles of stuff in my hallway – I’m in the middle of an organization project for my office – and I also ignore the bowl of meatball soup left in my hallway. Tell me you have a teenager without telling me…

It’s our usual chaos of getting everyone out of bed, dressed, and fed plus lunches packed. I grab my HydroJug, choose a flavor of mixhers, then we’re out the door for school drop off for the littles.

Y’all, I love school drop off. Sure, it can be crazy, I’m usually eating breakfast in the car, and some mornings aren’t as smooth as others, but I love, love, love the time in the car with my kids. We say our prayers, and then I play Momma Jukebox until I drop them off at school. Who doesn’t love a good car sing-along on the way to school?

Then, it’s back home to do Mory’s hair. The kids had a gymnastics competition, and Mory’s age group went first, so the lucky duck got to skip school. I sent her off with her dad who was driving her to the comp that morning.

Once she’s on her way, it’s time for me to go to the gym.

Mom Time

Back in the car, I add a little glow with my favorite blush, then I get in a workout – you have to take care of yourself so you can take care of everyone else!

Afterward, I hop back into the car – I tend to spend a lot of time in the car in the mornings! – put on a pair of hoops because hoops always elevate a look, and meet my bestie Lindsey for brunch. I sneak in a little bit of work while I wait for her, then once I’m home, I turn on some music, start my robot vacuum, snag a protein water from the fridge, and take a shower.

Finally, I do my hair and makeup, get dressed, and tackle the rest of my day.

Whew!

A full but realistic morning as a single mom of eight. It’s definitely a little chaotic – seriously, meatball soup?! In the hallway?! – but the school drop-off sing-alongs and all the good morning hugs? Totally worth it.
